Kenyans travelling along the Mai Mahiu - Narok road on Tuesday experienced heavy traffic congestion, due to the ongoing rains.

The area has been adversely affected by the rains which resulted in mudslides and landslides, especially due to its terrain.

Consequently, vehicles using the road were stuck in a traffic snarl, with some of them being stuck in mud.

Some passengers and drivers were forced to alight to try and unstuck the vehicles.

The Kenya National Highways Authority opened the road on May 4, days after closing it after it developed siltation and heavy debris.

In its notice that it had restored the Mai Mahiu-Suswa-Narok (B7) road and opened it to traffic, KeNHA warned that the heavy rains pounding the area had hindered complete restoration.

It cautioned motorists to be careful as they drive through the affected section and follow guidance from traffic marshals lest they get stuck on silt deposits.

KeNHA assured that it would continue working round the clock to ensure the safety of all road users.
