AFC Leopards head coach Thomas Trucha was over the moon after his charges secured a crucial 1-0 victory over Bandari at Dandora Stadium on Sunday.

Conversing in a post-match interview, the visibly elated Czech lavished praise on his squad for stopping their visitors in their track.

“I couldn’t have dreamt of a better outcome. This is a commendable performance considering we expended a lot of energy in our FKF Cup quarterfinal clash against Compel FC at this venue last weekend,” Trucha remarked.

“I’m glad we are finally getting things done albeit late in the day. The silverware is definitely out of reach this season but I believe we can charge for the title if we extend the good run into the new season,” he added.

Trucha’s opposite number at Bandari, John Baraza, rued a missed opportunity to enhance their aspirations for a maiden title.

“We need to try as much as we can to seal maximum points from our remaining matches. We need to finish in the top three if we miss out on the title,” Baraza said.

Leopards moved up to sixth on the log with 41 points, enriching their chances of finishing in the top five.  Clifton Miheso’s 36th minute strike was all Ingwe needed to silence the Mombasa-based sockets.

Kenya Police triumphed 2-1 over Kakamega Homeboyz at the Mumias Complex to cut the gap between them and leaders Gor Mahia to nine points.

Kevin Amwayi capitalised on a weighty defensive howler to fire the hosts into the lead in the 45th minute of the hotly-contested encounter.

However, Tito Okello latched onto a pass on the edge of the box to restore parity in the 60th minute before Marvin Nabwire snatched a lwinner for the law enforcers in stoppage time.

Elsewhere, a heavy downpour forced the Football Kenya Federation to shelve two fixtures a few hours before kick off.

“Two matches that had been scheduled for today, May 5, 2024, at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos, have been postponed due to heavy rainfall,” a statement by FKF read in part.
